Educational Project

The PhD programme in Economics aims to provide students with theoretical and analytical tools to understand economic phenomena, develop theoretical models, and conduct empirical analyses at the frontier of economic research, using the most advanced econometric and statistical techniques. These tools are acquired through attendance in advanced courses specifically designed for them, specialized schools offered by other research and academic institutions, courses provided by the University, as well as participation in seminars and workshops on specific topics. Moreover, the opportunity to spend research periods abroad at foreign universities and research institutions contributes to completing their training in specific areas of interest. The training program includes advanced-level study of major economic theories, also from a historical perspective.

Particular emphasis is placed on the knowledge of mathematical and statistical tools necessary for theoretical and applied analysis, as well as on the use of leading software employed in scientific research. The main research topics include: Microeconomics and Industrial Economics, Macroeconomics, Applied Economics, Behavioral Economics, Political Economy, Econometrics, Statistics, Economic History, History of Economic Thought, and Tourism Economics. All courses are taught in English.
